Mainly the SSC CGL is categorized into two parts viz. SSC CGL Tier 1 and SSC SGL Tier 2. There have been some changes into the SSC CGL Syllabus as well as SSC CGL Papers etc. Here we have all of the updated details for SSC CGL Syllabus.

So, candidates going to appear for SSC CGL – will have to appear for following selection procedures:

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam i.e. Combined Graduate Level Preliminary Exam,
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam i.e. Combined Graduate Level Main Exam,
Personal Interview/ Viva Voce.

SSC CGL Tier 1: Preliminary Exam

SSC CGL Tier 1 is the common entrance test for all of the candidates. Candidates, who applied for SSC CGL, all of them need to appear for the SSC CGL Tier 1. Although SSC CGL Tier 1 will be competitive but most of the candidates will get selected through this and then they will be selected for SSC CGL Tier 1.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus:

Part A – General Intelligence and Awareness,
Part B – Arithmetic.

General Intelligence and Awareness:
-verbal questions. There will be questions from various subjects including Analogies, Similarities and Differences, Spatial Visualization, Spatial Orientation, Problem Solving, Analysis, Judgment, Decision Making, Visual Memory, Discrimination, Observation, Relationship Concepts, Arithmetic Reasoning, Verbal and Figure Classification, Arithmetical Number Series, Non-Verbal Series, Coding and Decoding, Statement Conclusion, Syllogistic Reasoning etc.

General Awareness:
This part is to check your knowledge regarding current events. So, there will be questions from recent happenings around the world. Some of famous events, incidents, calamities, summits, scandals would be in this part. Also it also includes questions from various fields including Politics, History, Geography, Economic, Scientific Research, Industries, and Developments etc. Most of all, latest trends and happenings are covered through this part.

Arithmetic:
This part mainly includes mathematic and related questions. Various types of calculations and numbering are there. There will be questions from topics like Number System, Computation of Whole Numbers, Decimals and Fractions, Relationships between Numbers, Percentage, Ration, Proportion, Averages, Interest, Profit and loss, Graphs, Measurements, Time, Distance and many more.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam Pattern:

Paper A: General Intelligence and Awareness
Total 100 Question and 100 marks
Time: 2 Hours

Paper B: Arithmetic
Total 100 Question and 100 Marks
Time: 2 Hours.

Total Marks: 200.

Both of these above mentioned papers will be available in Hindi/ English languages. Questions asked in papers will be Objective Typed Questions.

SSC CGL Tier 2: Main Exam

Candidates, who are qualified through SSC CGL Tier 1, are selected for SSC CGL Tier 2. All those candidates who have attended and qualified in preliminary exam will be notified regarding the main exam.

General Studies:
This part has various questions from subjects like General Intelligence and General Awareness. This part has the subjects, as they were in SSC CGL Tier 1 Preliminary Exam. Candidates can refer to the above mentioned SSC CGL Tier 1 Syllabus.

English:
Here candidates will be asked various questions based onto English language and related grammar. This part is for testing candidates’ abilities regarding English language awareness. So, candidates need to know more about English basics and good command over English skills. In this part, there will be several questions to which candidates need to answer into descriptive manner. There might be Paragraph Writing, Essay Writing, and Report Writing etc. Candidates need to practice regarding writing all these things for this paper.

Arithmetic:
Arithmetic is also one of those similar subjects for candidates who have just qualified in SSC CGL Tier 1 Preliminary Exam. Just like the preliminary exam, this part contains questions from various mathematical topics.

Language Comprehension-English:
This part again questions regarding English language. It is basically to check candidates’ knowledge of English. There might be several paragraphs where candidates need to correct specific English words. For that, candidates need to practice vocabulary and learn lots of new words in English.

Communication Skill and Writing Ability:
This is the part where they seek candidates’ Hindi as well as English knowledge. This part includes Writing Ability through Short Essay, Letter Writing etc. So that candidates’ knowledge of both languages can be checked. It might include Spot the Errors, Fill in the Blanks, Synonyms, Antonyms, Spelling Checking, Grammar Checking, Idioms and Phrases, Substitute One Word and Comprehension of Passage.

Hindi:
This part is for Delhi Police exams. Just like English language, this part specifies the same for Hindi language. It might include Paragraph/ Report Writing, Grammar, Short Essay, Idioms and Phrases, Substitute Words and so on.

    examined about 400 representations of cgl 2012. abt 350 have no merit. abt 30 of them category changes; a few valid represntations.
